Staying Healthy and Bonding Through Tennis

Authored by Rickey Combs

My husband and I have been spending a lot of time playing tennis at the park lately. It's a great workout, and we both really love the sport. We recently invested in a nice set of professional rackets, and picked up a few new canisters of balls as well. Usually, we'll go to play at least twice a week, but sometimes we're able to make it three or four different days.

When we're ready to go play tennis, we pack the car, set our home security alarm from ALLHOMESECURITY.com, and drive to the nearest park. He likes to warm up on the backboards for about twenty minutes before we start our match, while I prefer to take a quick jog around the park. After we're both stretched and ready to play, we choose a court and begin the set. We both enjoy that our matches are usually pretty even, and that we play at about the same level. Though we're certainly not professionals by any means, we like to think that we can each hold our own pretty well, and usually have several good volleys.

I'm really glad that we picked up the sport, and purchased our rackets, because I can already feel myself getting more into shape from playing tennis. It keeps us both active and healthy, and also gives us something fun to do together.

Dancing With New Stars

Guest post by Quincy Lester

Dancing With the Stars has returned again and I viewed the premier via satellite tv. The show is becoming a bit repetitive and the only thing to look forward to are the celebrities. This year Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol is the hook that gets people to watch the show.

Last season the hook was Tom DeLay the former Republican congressman from Texas. His being controversial was the reason they put him on. His bad legs forced him to leave early. After that I watched the show but it came down a notch in my list of favorite shows. This is because you saw from the beginning that Tom DeLay was already complaining of a broken bone is his foot and would not last. It seemed like a contrived way of getting him off the show.

Dancing with the Stars is a reality show that can be stomached, because the people actually have to do something substantial. In this case to learn dance steps each week. It is hard work but they are well compensated. The stars seem to get $35,000 for their effort. Many of the contestants are washed out from their earlier careers and are attempting to make comebacks.

I will stick with this show this season. However, there are no promises for next season.

Keys to the Best Tailgating Experience

This guest post from Doris Dillon

Each fall, as the seasons begin to change and college and professional football get underway, millions of people head to parking lots near stadiums to tailgate. While tailgating can take place before any concert or sporting event, the passion and vibe is unmatched when compared to Big Ten and NFL football games.

My personal favorite tailgating experience always revolves around food and beer. While a great tailgate can be expensive, there are ways to cut costs on the cost of both those items. While some people like to grill expensive items, such as ribs and steak, preparing more affordable items such as hamburgers and hotdogs can be done at a much more affordable price and still be enjoyed just as much as anything else. To save money on the price of beer, you could look into splitting a keg with a group of friends as opposed to buying cans or bottle. However, prior to brining in a keg and a grill, be sure that the parking lot you are tailgating at does not restrict any of those items.

While tailgating can be a great experience, the amount of time you are away from your home can add up quickly. Between commuting to and from the stadium, tailgating, and going to the game, your total time commitment could easily top 8 hours. Because of this, it is important that you set your home security alarm prior to going tailgating(CLICK NOW for more information on home security alarms).

Paying my Bills is a Simple Task

The Author of this post is Velma Baird

I used to pay my bills the old fashioned way, by sending a check or money order in the mail, in an envelope. This became tiresome to do, due to the fact that I don't have any checks and I always had to purchase money orders and stamps. Once I got CLEARWireless tv set up in my house, I began paying my bills online instead. Paying bills then became less burdensome and less painful to do. It first requires setting up an account through each site, then connecting your checking account to that site.

The current places I pay online bills to include AT&T, Chase, Geico and my student loan center. I am able to organize when payments are due by writing the due dates in my Yahoo! Calendar, then setting up notices telling me when to pay. I also set it up through each company to send me statements via email rather than paper bills in the postal mail. This way my email will notify me how much I owe and by when. I have also bookmarked all the sites in which I owe payments to each month. This way I can easily access them when it comes time to make my payments. Before I pay each of my bills, I log into my bank account online to see if I have sufficient funds.

Romy & Michele's High School Reunion: My Favorite Chick Flick

Content by Donny Vinson

I have adored Romy and Michele's High School Reunion since I first watched it in high school back in 1998. I recently watched it again on my tv after my satellite tv installation was finished and thoroughly enjoyed the experience all over again. It is my all-time favorite chick flick.

The movie stars Mira Sorvino as Romy and Lisa Kudrow as Michele. The plot is basically that they are best friends and have a terrible life throughout high school. After school, they realize they have still done nothing with their lives and their 10 year reunion is coming up. So they decide to try to make themselves look successful by getting fake boyfriends, doing makeovers, and pretending to be things that they aren't. They end up making fools of themselves at the reunion and then just decide to be themselves in the end. It is very comical, but the gals have an excellent sense of style which works to their advantage in the end.

I highly recommend this movie to any woman who is in the mood for a good chick flick. It is cheesy, superficial, but funny and entertaining all at the same time.

How To Apply for a Philippine Passport

One of the very important requirements if Filipinos want to work abroad is a Philippine passport. Many people apply directly at the Department of Foreign Affairs' (DFA) office while others get the services of a travel agency. Here are some tips on the requirements and steps in securing a passport.

For First-Time Applicants:

* Personal Appearance is required.
* Duly accomplished application form.
* Birth Certificate (BC) in Security Paper (SECPA) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) or Certified True Copy (CTC) of BC issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.
* Proof of identity / Supporting documents indicating full name, date and place of birth
and citizenship
* Other Supporting documents.

For some applicants, these requirements may be requested also:

* For married women, who want to use surname of their spouse
* Marriage Contract (MC) in Security Paper issued by NSO or Certified True Copy issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.
* For married women who would like to revert back to their maiden name

If already widowed: Death Certificate of the deceased husband;

* If marriage is annulled: Certified true copy and photocopy of the first page and the dispositive portion of the judgment on annulment and NSO-issued MC with the annotation on the annulment decree;

* If divorced: Certified true copy and photocopy of the first page and the dispositive portion of the judgment on divorce secured by foreign spouse authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate where the divorce is obtained.

For Minors (below 18 years old)

* Personal appearance of either parent (if minor is of legitimate status).
*Personal appearance of mother (if minor is of illegitimate status)

If minor is NOT traveling with either parent:

* Original and photocopy of DSWD Clearance
* Affidavit of Support and Consent

If both parents are abroad:

* Affidavit of support and consent (must be authenticated by the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate General if not executed before a Consul).
* Special Power of Attorney (must be authenticated by the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate General if not executed before a Consul designating the representative by name and authorizing him to apply for a passport on behalf of the minor).

* Passport and photocopy of the passport of the traveling companion of the minor.
* Identification Card and photocopy thereof of the duly authorized person.

If you already have a passport, check its expiry as passports need to be renewed six months before its expiry date. This is to avoid the hassle of getting its replacement during increased passport applications and to make sure it is ready already before your departure date. It would be faster if you first get an online appointment through DFA's official website. This will help you avoid the long wait at the DFA office when you go there already.

DFA processes only 100 biometric passport applications per day. Those who are given priority are those who made an appointment in advance online. The online appointment will give you a specific day and time on when you can go to the office for your schedule. It is necessary to be around when your schedule comes up.

For a more detailed information, you may visit DFA's official website at http://dfa.gov.ph/main/.

Parental Control Is Out Of Control - In A Good Way

I appreciate the guest post, Ignacio Phillips

It's not often that parents will like the guy their daughter is dating. This is especially the case for the father. He has such high expectations that no one will ever be good enough. If you're a guy, sorry, that's just the way the world works. And if you try too hard, that makes it even worse. One great example of this is on a show called Parental Control, which is my favorite daytime television show. I watch it on my direct tv hd dvr whenever I get a chance. The concept of the show is that the parents hate the boyfriend (or girlfriend) so much that they interview other candidates that might go on dates with their daughter. Two candidates are chosen. At the end of the show, the girl will choose if she wants to stay with her boyfriend or go with one of the new guys.

While the concept of the show is that she gets to go on dates with new potential boyfriends, the really entertaining part of the show takes place back home, where the current boyfriend and her parents are watching the dates on television. The boyfriend is always keeping a close eye, making sure that nothing gets to out of control. The parents tease him, but he will often bite back with some cruel words. I still haven't figured out if this part is scripted or not, but who cares, it's highly entertaining.

Photobucket: Still In My Favorites Folder

Thanks to guest blogger Jessica Brooke for the post.

I am so glad there are so many internet providers filer idaho because of how much I love to do online photography. When organizing photos online, I opt for old school sites like Photobucket. Facebook and Flickr have their fair share of photo collections I enjoy browsing but for personal photos that I need for blogging purposes, I log onto Photobucket every time.

I enjoy their row by row picture format, multiple uploads, and simple interface. I’ve never caught onto the feature-rich programs that take two weeks to learn. When I want to upload pictures to the wild blue high speed internet to use for my blog, I have to use something simple. I’m not there to add content to Facebook or Flickr. I want content of my own for my own Web site. It’s also incredibly easy to organize everything into photo albums so that I know what photos are personal and what photos go to my Internet projects.

I discovered how to share photos online when I started using satellite television. Newer television technologies allow people to connect their television and PC entertainment together. Once I found Photobucket, I was hooked. It’s one of the simplest programs to use for online picture storage and organization and it’s one of the least interactive. If you don’t want to “connect” with people and simply want to organize your photos, Photobucket is my pick recommendation. It’s your own personal image playground with enough tools to keep you busy, and productive, for a lifetime.

v

This is a guest post from Sam Markowitz

At our house, TV is an important part of life. If my kids didn't watch Satellite tv, I would never get any work done at home. I am really picky about what I let them watch though. Educational is the only way to go at our house. Clifford the Big Red Dog is a great show for children. We watch it all the time. It is on once a day though. I wish that they showed this show more often. Clifford is a huge dog that lives with his owner Emily Elizabeth. They have a great time together. Clifford is so gentle and nice. He plays with his friends. They are always coming up with new things to do together. I love that this show focuses on sharing a lot. They also talk about how you should not act like you are better than other people. Everyone has good qualities of their own. This show is a cartoon, but the older kids enjoy it too. Once in awhile we catch an older one that shows Clifford as a puppy. These are also very cute shows.
