Paying my Bills is a Simple Task

The Author of this post is Velma Baird

I used to pay my bills the old fashioned way, by sending a check or money order in the mail, in an envelope. This became tiresome to do, due to the fact that I don't have any checks and I always had to purchase money orders and stamps. Once I got CLEARWireless tv set up in my house, I began paying my bills online instead. Paying bills then became less burdensome and less painful to do. It first requires setting up an account through each site, then connecting your checking account to that site.

The current places I pay online bills to include AT&T, Chase, Geico and my student loan center. I am able to organize when payments are due by writing the due dates in my Yahoo! Calendar, then setting up notices telling me when to pay. I also set it up through each company to send me statements via email rather than paper bills in the postal mail. This way my email will notify me how much I owe and by when. I have also bookmarked all the sites in which I owe payments to each month. This way I can easily access them when it comes time to make my payments. Before I pay each of my bills, I log into my bank account online to see if I have sufficient funds.

Romy & Michele's High School Reunion: My Favorite Chick Flick

Content by Donny Vinson

I have adored Romy and Michele's High School Reunion since I first watched it in high school back in 1998. I recently watched it again on my tv after my satellite tv installation was finished and thoroughly enjoyed the experience all over again. It is my all-time favorite chick flick.

The movie stars Mira Sorvino as Romy and Lisa Kudrow as Michele. The plot is basically that they are best friends and have a terrible life throughout high school. After school, they realize they have still done nothing with their lives and their 10 year reunion is coming up. So they decide to try to make themselves look successful by getting fake boyfriends, doing makeovers, and pretending to be things that they aren't. They end up making fools of themselves at the reunion and then just decide to be themselves in the end. It is very comical, but the gals have an excellent sense of style which works to their advantage in the end.

I highly recommend this movie to any woman who is in the mood for a good chick flick. It is cheesy, superficial, but funny and entertaining all at the same time.

How To Apply for a Philippine Passport

One of the very important requirements if Filipinos want to work abroad is a Philippine passport. Many people apply directly at the Department of Foreign Affairs' (DFA) office while others get the services of a travel agency. Here are some tips on the requirements and steps in securing a passport.

For First-Time Applicants:

* Personal Appearance is required.
* Duly accomplished application form.
* Birth Certificate (BC) in Security Paper (SECPA) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) or Certified True Copy (CTC) of BC issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.
* Proof of identity / Supporting documents indicating full name, date and place of birth
and citizenship
* Other Supporting documents.

For some applicants, these requirements may be requested also:

* For married women, who want to use surname of their spouse
* Marriage Contract (MC) in Security Paper issued by NSO or Certified True Copy issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.
* For married women who would like to revert back to their maiden name

If already widowed: Death Certificate of the deceased husband;

* If marriage is annulled: Certified true copy and photocopy of the first page and the dispositive portion of the judgment on annulment and NSO-issued MC with the annotation on the annulment decree;

* If divorced: Certified true copy and photocopy of the first page and the dispositive portion of the judgment on divorce secured by foreign spouse authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate where the divorce is obtained.

For Minors (below 18 years old)

* Personal appearance of either parent (if minor is of legitimate status).
*Personal appearance of mother (if minor is of illegitimate status)

If minor is NOT traveling with either parent:

* Original and photocopy of DSWD Clearance
* Affidavit of Support and Consent

If both parents are abroad:

* Affidavit of support and consent (must be authenticated by the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate General if not executed before a Consul).
* Special Power of Attorney (must be authenticated by the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate General if not executed before a Consul designating the representative by name and authorizing him to apply for a passport on behalf of the minor).

* Passport and photocopy of the passport of the traveling companion of the minor.
* Identification Card and photocopy thereof of the duly authorized person.

If you already have a passport, check its expiry as passports need to be renewed six months before its expiry date. This is to avoid the hassle of getting its replacement during increased passport applications and to make sure it is ready already before your departure date. It would be faster if you first get an online appointment through DFA's official website. This will help you avoid the long wait at the DFA office when you go there already.

DFA processes only 100 biometric passport applications per day. Those who are given priority are those who made an appointment in advance online. The online appointment will give you a specific day and time on when you can go to the office for your schedule. It is necessary to be around when your schedule comes up.

For a more detailed information, you may visit DFA's official website at http://dfa.gov.ph/main/.

Parental Control Is Out Of Control - In A Good Way

I appreciate the guest post, Ignacio Phillips

It's not often that parents will like the guy their daughter is dating. This is especially the case for the father. He has such high expectations that no one will ever be good enough. If you're a guy, sorry, that's just the way the world works. And if you try too hard, that makes it even worse. One great example of this is on a show called Parental Control, which is my favorite daytime television show. I watch it on my direct tv hd dvr whenever I get a chance. The concept of the show is that the parents hate the boyfriend (or girlfriend) so much that they interview other candidates that might go on dates with their daughter. Two candidates are chosen. At the end of the show, the girl will choose if she wants to stay with her boyfriend or go with one of the new guys.

While the concept of the show is that she gets to go on dates with new potential boyfriends, the really entertaining part of the show takes place back home, where the current boyfriend and her parents are watching the dates on television. The boyfriend is always keeping a close eye, making sure that nothing gets to out of control. The parents tease him, but he will often bite back with some cruel words. I still haven't figured out if this part is scripted or not, but who cares, it's highly entertaining.
